The History of Polymer Additives Group

Metal and Additives, LLC (MAC), an Indianapolis, Indiana, USA based  corporation acquired specialty additive producer Polymer Additives Group (PAG) in 2006. PAG’s sole focus has been and continues to be the manufacturing and sales of proprietary Flame Retardants and Smoke Suppressants for the Plastics and Coatings market.

Shortly after acquiring PAG, our team of chemists began focusing on establishing cost-effective solutions for the replacement of AOM, a highly efficient smoke suppressant for plenum compounds and other rigorous low smoke applications. In 2008 a new product line, Charmax FS, was introduced to the market. The Charmax FS product range provides cost-effective solutions with similar performance to AOM and continues to gain approvals in a variety of PVC applications.

While PVC is a major end market – specifically wire and cable applications for our products – PAG is diversifying into other polymers and end applications. Antimony replacements continue to be a focus for our research and improvement efforts. PAG was one of the first suppliers to provide Antimony Synergists in the 1990s.
